Bed Bug Bite Photos
Bed bugs have made a resurgence in the United States over the past several years, and because of this, more and more people are clamoring to see if those bites they got overnight came from the dreaded insect. Bed bugs tend to hide in or under a person's mattress during the day, coming out at night to feed. Most bed bug bites happen on the legs. Since they are primarily a nocturnal creature, you will more than likely find your first bites on your legs. When you slide your legs under the cover, the bed bugs will come out to feed.
Bed bug bites can look very similar to most other insect bites. This can make it difficult to distinguish between a series of mosquito bites and actual bed bug bites. These bed bug bite pictures should help you to take care of any confusion.

Bed bug bites share many of the characteristics of other bug bites. They tend to show up as tiny red welts or bumps that can itch. Most people don't realize they are bed bug bites until they actually discover they have an infestation.

You can also tell they are bed bug bites by the timing of their arrival. if you are going to sleep without any bites, then waking up with several more, you should carefully inspect your mattress immediately. If you do not find signs of bed bugs, that does not immediately mean you're in the clear.

People need to be especially careful when traveling, since hotels and hostels can be infested with bed bugs. These are actually some of the more common places to find them. With the large number of guests and the frequent visitors, an infestation can begin and get out of control before anyone is aware there is a problem.

Since bed bug bites share several similar qualities with other bug bites, treatment options are similar as well. Bed bug bites should be washed with warm water and antibacterial soap, then patter dry, not rubbed. Rubbing a bite with a towel could open it up, creating a more serious wound. Calamine lotion or a similar cream can also be used to ease any itching that may come with the bite.

This close-up of the bite shows just how similar they are to other bug bites. These could easily be confused with a mosquito bite if you aren't careful. If you think you may have a bed bug problem, you should contact an exterminator immediately. This is one of the only ways to help prevent future bites.
